Paris Vacation
Paris is one of the premier capitals of the world especially the romantic amongst us; over the years it has become one of the most visited cities in the world. Almost everyone taking a European vacation will decide on a short stay in Paris; most people promise to return as so much they wanted to see will have been missed.
It is famous for many famous buildings and locations; the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe and the Louvre must not go unmentioned. Visitors to Paris as well as its citizens can travel around Paris easily; the underground train system or Metro can take you to anywhere within the city and is simple to use.
No visit would be complete without a trip to the top of the almost 1,000 feet tall Eiffel tower; it can be seen throughout most locations around the city. Illuminated at night it dominates the city's skyline; if you are really enthusiastic you can take a tour where the guide will tell you how this beautiful tower was built.
A trip down the Champs Elysees is encouraged when you visit Paris as this is the city's most famous street; it will present you with many famous designer shops and good restaurants. This is considered a more exclusive and busy area of the city; most of the five star hotels are located here but more affordable hotels can be found further out.
If you are an art lover you will enjoy the Louvre, a truly amazing museum; it contains almost a third of a million exhibits and is in fact one of the biggest art museums in the world. Even on a short stay in Paris, this is a an art lovers paradise; the Venus de Milo is displayed here and of course the Mona Lisa. Paris has always been a magnetic destination for artists; chances are that you will have the opportunity to see a number of famous paintings whilst you're visiting.
Another famous Paris attraction is The Arc de Triomphe which was built within the first decade of the nineteenth century; the names of his generals are engraved on its surface and another of those ‘must have' photo land marks. The Arc is the focal point of the city and contains an observatory to view the local area; it is located in Place Charles de Gaulle where twelve of the city's main avenues start, including Avenue de Champs Elysees.
Certainly it is not fair to believe that these are the only places in the city worth visiting; although no trip would be complete without seeing these, they are probably best viewed as part of a guided tour, some of which are actually free. Most people find their Paris short stay vacations exciting but only see a glimpse of what's on offer; the churches, cathedrals and other museums will just have to wait for another time.
