If you are taking your family to Orlando for a vacation then be prepared for a busy time at the parks, although you can always take a break and visit one of the many other interesting attractions. Orlando is also full of lakes, parks, exhibitions, historical places, markets, shops and much more. Everything a visitor could possibly want is here and the reason why people return year after year.
Orlando really is one of the most visitor friendly cities in the world with fantastic shopping facilities like Church Street Station, a multi-level shopping and amusement center, with shops, eating places, clubs and bars. Central Florida Zoological Park is one of the major reasons to visit as the zoo is home to more than 400 animals that started out as just a collection in the Sanford Fire Department. It is actually a privately owned charitable group dedicated to the protection of exotic animals plus species that are native to Florida but also offers informative and child-friendly classes and events.
Then there are the works of Louis Tiffany whose famous collection is housed here in the Morse Museum of American Art. The collection is the most comprehensive anywhere with Tiffany jewelry, art glass, ornaments, pottery, paintings and leaded glass.
Whilst it may seem that Orlando has been created for the entertainment of children that could not be further from the truth as there is plenty here for everyone. For the young at heart, Orlando vacations aim to please with extensive evening venues including music and dance at Disney's incredible Pleasure Island and Universals version, City walk, to name just a couple of places.
If you are more technology and science minded then a trip to the Orlando Science Center will be a must as is a huge complex incorporating 10 halls with exhibitions everything from the Florida Everglades to the plains of Mars. Then there is the International Trolley and Train Museum where you can see toy trains from the 1920s; plus take a ride in a California Victorian-style half open/half closed trolley car.
The Mercado Center on International Drive is the home to the Titanic Exhibition where you are treated like a tourist traveling onboard the Titanic Ocean Liner; this is a really moving and eerie experience which includes many original objects from the Titanic. For those who prefer a little peace and relaxation they can visit the beautiful lake Eola Park where there are forty three acres of land to roam freely; it includes a boating lake.
Now you couldn't possibly visit Orlando without a trip to the numerous theme parks including Disney World, Universal Studios and of course not to forget the fantastic Seaworld. To make the most of your Orlando vacation try to visit outside of traditional holiday periods if you want to avoid the crowds.
